Flap your wings and make a difference in this world!
I’ve been asked why butterflies. Read this paper with words by Heidi Thompson owner of Scentsy with a mix of my own words. I hope you guys take the time to read this very important message, that I want to share with you butterflies.
Butterflies represent me and you all. Butterflies change throughout their life cycle from tiny larvae to fuzzy caterpillars and they spin their cocoons and enter stage of complete metamorphosis, released from their cocoons they emerge to be their most beautiful selves. They remind us that transformation is necessary if we are going to break out of our cocoons embrace our awesomeness and be who we were meant to be. They are a symbol of rebirth, release, growth and transformation. The struggle that a butterfly goes through to break free from its cocoon is the very thing that makes it wings so strong and beautiful without the struggle to emerge it doesn’t transform into a butterfly at all. We must all struggle to emerge into a beautiful transformation. The greater the struggle the more glorious the triumph. You know caterpillars nearly died in their cocoon, they literally melt and reform to become butterflies. They fight to break free and be released from their truest form. They reform and transform. Conquer your dreams and spread your wings and fly. So how does this all fit you and me? Our ability to go through trials (Whether it be personal or growing a business) and overcoming them, to adapt to change, to embrace who you are, and then celebrate the transformation and growth. While most butterflies don’t live more than a week or two, we never stop transforming. We must grow and transform all the time; the process of growth always involves change which can be scary but necessary.
Who remembers Heimlich from A Bugs Life? If you remember when he first got his wings, he had his friends help him fly because his wings were so small. While they must go through struggle from the cocoon themselves to become beautiful and strong. It’s friends and family that help it evolve afterwards. Like monarch butterflies migrate together to work on the next generation. You guys are my friends helping me fly. My friends mean so much to me and are the key to me going through my own transformation and rebirth. You guys are the key to causing growth in my soul. I am always learning and going through struggles, hoping that I will have a positive rebirth after its done and over. Like our own selves, I am hoping I never stop transforming. But like I said that all depends on my friends helping me fly. You are the wings to my soul.
The butterfly effect was presented by Edward Lorenz in 1963 who said motion created by a butterfly flapping its wings move molecules of air into motion that in turn made other molecules of air move eventually being able to shift weather patterns on the other side of the world, he was laughed at, but in the 1990s his theory was proved true. The butterfly effect holds true for everything with matter form molecules to people. The butterfly effect shows the value of an individual life, small quiet changes can lead to greater changes in the weather, quantum physics, or social movements. Your small actions like being positive and spreading love creates a special butterfly effect, our own social movement which is a group of individuals that focus on a specific thing.
In 1955 Rosa Parks started a movement when she refused to give up her seat to a white passenger, or did it, several other African Americans had done the same thing before Rosa and their actions inspired Rosa Parks. They weren’t trying to cause of movement, they were simply flapping their butterfly wings, but it was Rosa Parks actions at the exact right time that set the American Civil Rights Movement into motion. Rosa's very small flapping of her wings changed the face of American history.
The flapping of butterfly wings matters, and if a butterfly wings matter, then everything you do matters too. This goes for anything in your personal life to what you do for me. If you guys only knew how you have affected my own life by your actions of support. I have made me have my own transformation and growth.
So, what do we know about butterflies they are a symbol of release, rebirth, growth and transformation. They flutter like fragrances and pollinate the world. They are symbols of courage and graciousness. They are also the symbol of our own social movement of kindness, courage, graciousness, and transformation. So, as you go about life fluttering your wings, remember you’re making a difference.
